Dell Dimension 8300 vs 4600 Question

I am looking into purchasing a computer and I'm wondering about Dell's Dimension line. I configured at 4600 and a 8300 Dimension desktop on their website. Each as the same software package and virtually the same hardware except for the 4600 has 1 GB of DDR SDRAM running at 333MHz and a processor running at 3.06 GHz with a 533 FSB while the 8300 has 1 GB DDR SDRAM running at 400 MHz and the processor at 3 GHz HT with a 800 FSB and 1 MB Cache. The price difference will equal to almost $200 (provided that the rebate works with the coupon).

I am not a power user by any stretch of the imagination. My use for the computer includes video editing, games (not necessarily graphics intensive), music, back up, word processing, surfing and the like. I expect the 8300 to run faster, but given my uses, I don't know how much faster the 8300 will run the programs I will be using.

My first question is which is the better deal between the two and my second question is aside from the processor and the RAM, are there significant component differences between the 4600 and the 8300 that should affect my decision making (ie quality of parts)?

The difference is in the MB chipsets, i865G chipset for the 4600 vs. i875P for the 8300. For that price difference I would get the 4600.

Thanks. I just called Dell and the representative pointed that out. Further, she also noted that the price quoted is from an "Outrageous Deal" section and the rebate would not work with a SB coupon. Bummer. That would have brought the price of the 4600 below $1000 with the configuration I wanted.

I used coupon all the time and my rebates always went thru. You can't use the coupon with other offers or coupons but MIR still go thru.
