Question New system....thumbs up or down

Putting together a new system and before I pull the trigger I wanted some general feedback/suggestions. I am not a gamer, just time to upgrade what I am using. Thanks in advance.

I took everyones advice and made the following changes, I know some people had problems with the Geil "Value" Ram, but I did quite a bit of research and found lots of positive feedback:

CTX S720G 17" LCD Monitor
Asus P4S800D-E Deluxe
Samsung 120GB SATA, Model SP1213C
2x Geil Value Series 512MB PC-3200
P4 2.8C GHz 800MHz
Antec SLK2600AMB
Lite-On 48X24X48X16 Combo Drive
Logitech Cordless MX Duo USB/PS2
Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600 Video Card,128MB DDR,128-bit

Still open to suggestions, but my pointer is getting real close to the submit order button.

Thanks again for all the help!

hmm...your system is good up to the graphics card, it can be slightly better...but as you say you're not a gamer.

According to their website the Geil RAM has a lifetime warranty.

Replace the R9200 with the R9600XT and you are good to go. How much is that system going to cost you? I just bought the Dell 8300 with a P4 3.0E, 2x128MB PC3200 RAM, 40GB hard drive R9800Pro video card, and 8x DVD+RW drive for $710.xx after $150 MIR.

The cost is right around $1K (Newegg), that is including the fact that my work pays for 20% of it. I saw the Dell deal, but I already have a copy of win xp (legally), and really wanted more control over the selection/quality of the components going into the system. However, I am still debating either the 2.8C or 2.8E. From what I have read the 2.8C is the better choice at that speed.

First, ditch the Geil ram. If you want a dual channel system, value ram is rolling the dice. You are putting system stability into question. If you are dead set on Geil, at least buy their performance series. YOu are spending a lot of money on that cpu and motherboard, why cripple it with bad ram?

Second, get an "All in Wonder" ATi card. YOu arent a gamer, but you should get a versatyle card for the other multimedia uses.

Go with the C chip. The E doesnt really perform faster until around 3.6ghz.

If you don't game, you can use onboard video til the price on a 9600 drops or an AIW card.
