Dead Pixels
newegg.com has a 19" LCD for nearly $500 shipped. It has very good reviews. The problem I have is that it can only be returned if it has 8 or more dead pixels.
I bought a 21" LCD TV monitor from tweeters.com months ago which had one dead pixel right in the center of the screen. It was very noticeable. Fortunately, they took it back. Wouldn't 8 dead pixels be excessive?

Well, there are (assuming it's a 1280x1024 display) 1,310,720 pixels on the display so 8 dead or stuck pixels in logic is really quite minimal.
BUT You're right, they can be very annoying, especially if they're in the center. If those 8 pixels are spread out randomly around the screen (particularly around edges) they may not be so bad. My monitor over the past year has come up with 4 or 5 pixels that all have chosen to stick on Blue...I can only notice 3 of them when I look hard enough on a black background, and there's one that sort of bothers me on a dark background because it's almost near the middle portion of the monitor. If those pixels are stuck near the center of the monitor, I'm sure they'll be much more leanient in replacing the monitor. When I had mine RMA'd, it only had one stuck pixel, but it was smack dag in the middle and was red like a laser pointer and they had no problem replacing it for me.

I've never had a dead pixel on my last two laptops...but here's a reccomendation for stuck pixels.
You can lightly massage the screen where the pixel is with your finger..cycle the power...sometimes it goes off. These are for stuck pixels...where you know it's still working, but just stuck on a particular color
