New CPU question

I have a p4 2.4 533mhz FSB..and would like to possibly upgrade my CPU in the near future here..I have a Dell 4550..I d/l SiSoft Sandra and it tells me that I am capable of up to 3.06Ghz..I noticed that in the mobo info area that it said 845G(amongst other numbers) for the chipset..What am I limited to w/o changing mobos? (codenames, etc) I have a Northwood I am pretty sure..

TIA

You only could upgrade to the P4 2.66, 2.8C, and 3.06 (533Mhz FSB) with the i845 chipset motherboard. You can't upgrade to the 800Mhz FSB Northwood or Prescott.

Yeah... 3.06 is pretty much the end of th road for you... and it's the only option you have with that mobo to do hyperthreading.
