iPod 40GB 3rd gen to 4th gen upgrade
Any of you guys used both 3rd and 4th versions of the 40GB ipod? I am considering upgrading to the 4th gen ipod from my current 3rd gen ipod.
TIA! |

I haven't, and won't. I actually am not a fan of the integrated click and scroll wheel with the function buttons integrated. Yeah, it does have a longer battery life but I generally am in places where I can charge it no problem - 10 hours is good enough for me. That being said, I carry a replacement plan on the 3rd gen iPod so when the time comes, I'm sure that I will be picking up a 4th gen when this one dies on me.
Bear in mind, though, that the dock is no longer a free accessory with the new generations. I think the cost now is 40 bucks for the dock, so the 100 dollar price cut may not be as big as you think, if you need the dock.

I'm new to the iPod users group with the 4th Gen . . . I've never used anything other than the click wheel, but I do like it. As for the dock, it is not included with the 4G 20gig . . . but it IS included with the 4G 40gig, which I have. Don't know if I would upgrade from 3G, however . . . what really got me was the price drop in conjunction with the added battery life/improved menu/design. I guess my only complaint is that there is no remote included, but that hasn't been a problem.

Oops, I actually meant the remote. I knew it was one of those two things that was missing.
