Logitech MX1000

http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...ion=26-104-158

Advantages over MX900:
- Has an ON/OFF button on the bottom (what the MX900 desperately needs)
- Battery level indicator (not just flashing when low)
- 20X more accuracy laser than optical

Disadvantage:
- No Bluetooth

Looks like they added tilt wheel side scrolling to match the new MS mice, uses a Li-Io battery and moved the application switch button to between the forward and back thumb buttons.

ok - i just read the specs - it DID!!! sweet!

though just having a built-in Li-Ion battery kinda makes me wary - what if i didnt put the mouse in the battery charger? i know were all not as diligent as some people (ok, LAZY) are to put the mouse on the base to recharge everyday (it may drain and you'll have to wait for it to fully charge before you can use it). whereas if you had replaceable batteries, you can just switch to new ones while you recharge the other ones (like the mx700 and 900).

Coolness. I think all wireless optical mice should have an on/off button. I'm still using my Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse I won from that giveaway last year. It has no back/forward buttons which is kinda sucky

I'm sure they'll come out with the MX1100 (or whatever they'll call it) that uses Bluetooth soon enough. Guess they're trying to appeal to the masses right now with this mouse (most people don't have Bluetooth).

Sweet mouse indeed -- just might have to upgrade from my MX700.

Oooohhhhh...MX "laser"...

Looks like a nice gaming mouse, and I like that it has an on/off switch. I wonder if it will work with the existing MX receiver unit...

Bluetooth would be nice but what do most of you actually do with it? It is nice for cell phones and headsets but what else?

I use bluetooth because it's built in to my laptop. that's why I like using my mx900. besides, it would be great if more devices used bluetooth. Less wires = good. there are a few bluetooth printers out there that are quite nice.

Most Apple laptops have it and you can choose to add an internal Bluetooth module on most Dell laptops.

In general, I used Bluetooth to sync my cell phone, desktop, laptop, and PDA.

I'll have to put this mouse down as a future upgrade to my mx700. Well, unless i get a laptop, then ill probably wait for the bluetooth version.

The LI battery is better than the rechargable one in the mx700/900. It should get a longer charge with no memory effect. The mx wireless mice also shut off when you're not using them so it's not going to run out just by sitting there, unless it's there for a month. Any wireless mouse is going to use batteries, so the best way is to have a rechargeable one with its own charging base IMO. Although it would be nice if it could take AA/AAA's if you ever needed it.

the battery life is not the issue - its the fact that say its left off of the base for a while and it starts losing charge, and it comes to a point where you HAVE to recharge it on the base. you have to wait til it recharges maybe even partially to a usable charge. you cant use it then. you cant simply just change the battery (its built-in). you have to wait til its recharged enough for use again.

as far as shutting OFF the mouse - i dont think its automatic (the switch is there). you HAVE to do it manually.

and yes, i am the speaker for the motivationally-challenged. (theyre too lazy to voice their concern)

The only real negative I see is you lose the glowing mouse since its a laser light.

Looks pretty cool. I'm surprised Logitech has no information about this on their site yet since NewEgg has it scheduled to arrive by the end of the week.

Personally, I'm gonna wait for the keyboard/mouse combo of this. I hate having more than 1 cradle/receiver on the desk.

Logitech doesn't use Bluetooth in favor of their FastRF technology. It is MUCH faster than Bluetooth which is useful when playing games and such.
