I'm wondering

if you have a lifetime activation on a replaytv and you image the drive to another hd and place that in another replaytv unit. Will both work?

I wonder something simmilar...
Is it possible to hack into a cellphone and make it think it is another cellphone, so you can have 2 phones on the same phone plan using the same minutes? (without paying for a family plan)

No. The phone providerties your number to the SIM card or the actual phone. You would need to modify the card or the phone to look like they are the same device.

I believe the replaytv ties its activation to your hardware ID. It would be awesome if you could just clone your drive though. I have a small TV in front of my treadmill that I would love to have connected to a ReplayTV, but I dont want to have to pay a few hundred dollars to do it.

no I haven't tried it... I was just wondering. I mean I've imaged my smaller factory drive to a larger 200GB drive when I first got it and it works like it was the original one from the factory. No problems there. I just wonder if they would figure that 2 units have the same imaged drive.

I have an imaged 80GB hard drive for my ReplayTV that I am not using right now. I have it in reserve as my standby HD should my 160GB hacked setup ever give up the ghost.
