But that's only because I got it before the x50v was released. I'm thinking I might like that 640x480 screen....

I have the original Dell Axim X5 and the thing is amazing, I can only imagine how much better it has gotten now... I have used the X3 (not sure of the letter, the top of the line one) quite a bit and it is great as well, I just like the added size of the X5.

sharp zaurus.

I also just bought a smartphone. Its pretty cool, but it bothers me that my phone is more prone to a virus than my pda and my computer.

I currently have a Palm Treo 600 smartphone and am waiting for my new Treo 650 to arrive.

I have been a palm guy for many moons now and prefer it over Pocket PC. Right off the top, Palm generally has much better battery life than PPC.

I don't want to start a flame war, but I say Palm all the way!

Runs fine for me, too. Even supports MiniStumbler if you need to look for a connection.

If budget is tight, the x30 probably will do everything you need. If you're a gadget junkie, you won't be able to live without the 640x480 screen on the x50v.

I'd hold off on getting the backup battery if I were you. You should first determine if you will actually need it. I've had mine for a few months now and have not had it run out of power yet. If you charge it overnight it should get you through the next day just fine.

Do you plan on using it as a music player? If so then lots of memory would be good. Otherwise it may go unused. What do you plan on using for?

I have a 256 card in mine and it works for me.

The good thing about most of these accessories is that you can get them later on as needed. So unless you really feel the need to empty your pockets now why not wait and see what you need based on your pattern of usage?

I was planning on doing some GPS usage with it other than that the girlfriend would use it for scheduling/tasking. I guess 512 should do it then.
