And yet another snag

Ok this is no longer funny

I completely forgot that i don't have a floppy drive, and that actually i haven't used one in the past 3-4 years.
Not only that newer PCs don't even come with floppy drives so i can't pull a drive from any system. But i need one to install the freaking raid drivers...hmmm this has been the same ****ing thing since windows NT, so pretty much in 10 years we have not moved forward, why don't they come up with a new way. WTF!!!!

this is a bit different. In my case the windows installation doesn't see the hard dries because they are located on a separate raid controller.. a boot disk will not help this

haven't done it before, but doesn't windows installation give you the option of loading 3rd party raid drivers? does it care if they're on cd or disk?

Yeap definitely need it for RAID driver installation. I "borrowed" from my work desktop for my installation and returned it the next day.

Yup. Definitely need the floppy for the RAID. I tried everything to work it with a CD but wound up running to CompUSA and dropping 15 bucks on a floppy drive just to see my machine work.

I feel your pain. I was so frustrated with that before I just decided to buy myself out of the misery for 15 bucks.

If it's a Promise controller then try going with Intel. I've read (I forget where) that Promise is not up to par with some of the other controllers out there. Driver support is also poor, I think.

So go with Intel first.

Actually, they now have a restocking policy on all computer items where you cannot return an item unless it's proven to be defective. Back in the day when they had no such policy, you could pull that off, but I don't think you can do it anymore.
