LCD advice

So I woke up this morning and headed to my desk to start work and found that my monitor was dark. I have a compaq 8020 LCD and from what I can tell it still thinks it is connected to my computer as the power light is on and the input light is green. The screen itself it completey dark though. I really need to get another monitor or to get this one fixed. Does anyone know if this type of issue is worth getting fixed? I see the Dell deal on the main page for a 20" wide screen that expires tonite but I'm unsure whether to pull the trigger on that or try to get this fixed.

Do you have some other monitor to make sure the problem isnt with your computer instead of with your LCD?

on another note...
I just recieved a 20.1" dell widescreen today (I got it for $384), and it is awsome!

I have to say the dell 20"er's are great, esp for the price you can get them now.. there's nothing like having one browser on one half the screen, and something else on the other half, or two word documents side-by-side, or, whatever..

LCD repair costs are probably pretty bad also, so, might as well spend the money to get a new one.. you can't beat the wow per cost ratio of the dell 20's

Yeah the problem is the monitor and not my laptop. I can get by for a while using my laptop screen only. I wonder if I should wait around for a better deal. 384 is better than the 5 I would pay today.

It seems like the backlight went out on your LCD. Unless it's covered under warranty I would not bother fix it and get a new one. LCD prices have been hitting the rock bottom nowadays and if you keep an eye out in the Deals section you can probably get on another great LCD deal. Dell ones are often made by Samsung who's an excellent manufacturer - more so than I'd trust Compaq or whoever is supplying panels to them.
