Advanced Micro Devices on Monday released updated pricelist. AMD’s new prices reflect slash in AMD Sempron and some AMD Athlon 64 costs as well as do not list AMD Athlon MP and AMD Athlon XP-M processors anymore.

AMD reduced pricing of AMD Athlon 64 models 4000+ and 3800+ by 25% and 12% down to $482 and $373 respectively. AMD Sempron and Mobile AMD Sempron price drops were not that significant and were between 5% and 10%, while price slash for Mobile AMD Sempron for thin and light notebooks was from 7% to 20%. The most advanced AMD Sempron 3100+ now costs $108, down from $114, while the fastest Mobile AMD Sempron 3100+ and Mobile AMD Sempron 3000+ (for thin and light notebooks) products now cost even less - $107.

In general, AMD’s high-performance desktop Athlon 64 processors are now priced significantly below Intel’s top single-core offerings, such as Intel Pentium 4 processors 660 and 570J, which cost $605 and $637 respectively. AMD Sempron chips are generally priced similarly to comparable Intel Celeron D products.

In addition to price change AMD also stroke out its first ever lineup of server and workstation processors – AMD Athlon MP – from the list and also put away AMD Athlon XP-M chips designed for mobile computers. From now on AMD will offer its clients only AMD Opteron processors for servers and workstations as well as a lineup of Mobile AMD Athlon 64, Mobile AMD Sempron and AMD Turion 64 processors for laptops.

AMD’s price listing reflects pricing for direct AMD customers in 1000-unit tray quantities, except when designated as PIB quantities.
