Canon PowerShot E18 Errors - A fix
My S330 = brought to beach and it got E18ed. Canon charged $150 for the repair.
My S400 = accidentally left in pocket before a beach bonfire earlier this week --> E18ed. Haven't mailed it back to Canon for a repair estimate, but I'm guessing it'll be around $150. ![]() Googled and came up with this: http://www.ixus-world.de/tips/repair_guide/e18_01en.htm (turn on pop-up blocker) Seems complicated, but eh. At least I can't mess the camera up more than it already is. ![]() |

good luck with that...i think i can understand why it costs 150...how much did the camera cost you in the first place?

Yikes -- you're literally taking the whole camera apart -- and I can bet that Canon wouldn't really want to fix it if you can't put the camera back together again.

Ok I have had a S400 and a S410 both e18ed... I fixed the S400 by shaking it and pressing on the lens til the motor unlocked. The S410 was 175 after shipping to have fixed or they wanted 210 for a s500 upgrade. Good luck with this, I have seen 4 E18s in 3 years, 2 were mine, quite an issue.

Woah....passwird. I don't think I would be able to successfully complete the disassembly, let alone the reassembly.
