Alternatives to ZipZoomFly.com

I'm looking for some purchasing alternatives to ZipZoomFly.com. I've recently had some shopping issues with them and I would prefer to avoid them in the future now. Basically, who else out there is trust worthy? I've avoided stuff like pricewatch.com because some of the sites on there look a bit too fishy.

I'm looking to spend a significant amount on just the parts to build the tower. I'm building a very high end system.

Thanks in advance.

Newegg.com

Directron.com

BTW... what happened with you and ZipZoomFly.com? They've always been pretty reliable for me... I've built no less than 4 computers using parts entirely from them without problem....

In addition to newegg.com, I've had some pretty good experiences with geeks.com.

One more thing about newegg. Fast shipping to Southwestern Virginia... I've ordered from other CA companies that take forever. Part of it is same-day shipping and using FedEx Saver.

I've had a good experience with Monarch Computers. Newegg is also really good.

Btw, I don't know if you know about resellerratings.com. You can check out the companies from pricewatch on their site. Lots of user info on different sites.

Same as above, www.Newegg.com and www.dumpinggoods.com

Newegg is great, I love them, never once had a problem that wasnt immediately taken care of. Come to think of it, I havent had very many problems with them heh, spent many thousands of dollars with them, and always get things delivered quickly.

I'd also recommend 3btech.com from personal experience I've not had a problem with them, and since I live in the Midwest.. having things shipped from South Dakota makes it always a quick turnaround

Sorry about ZipZoomFly, I wouldnt expect them to not shine out above most all companies.

I would include ZipZoomFly with NewEgg as one of the best sites to order from. Great prices and shipping is cheap and quick. Never had to return anything.

I ordered a part from them that, on their website, was incorrect. I specifically ordered a part due to that information. They refused to refund me the money even though they had false information on the site.

I've built no less than 10 computers from them and that's a low estimate. That's the first problem I've had with them and frankly, it's bull****. I just don't want to deal with it, it's not worth my time for $35.

I had a really bad experience with zzf customer service, when a soyo board (one of them with the nasty rebates) didn't work. They kept saying since it was free, to just keep the board, as they don't accept refunds when the board is free after rebate, even though it was defective. They lost a customer.

I see... thanks for the clarification.

On side note... one of the few reasons I do go to ZZF over Newegg is that generally ZZF has free 2 day FedEx shipping on most items... whereas Newegg usually likes to charge that 3.99 - 5.99 per item (as listed). Other than that, the prices between the two are generally fairly close.

Although I'll continue to shop at ZZF, I do see your point about the hassle... BTW... did you try to talk to a member of managment on this? I usually don't just stop at the first line customer support in a case like this. I do let them know that I'm a repeat customer (as history would show) and that I talk to ALOT of folks on the web... and that "bad customer service" will be talked about at length.

Hell.. you might even wanna give them a link to this thread.... just to show that if they piss one person off, they can in effect mess up their relationship with a whole bunch more by NOT taking care of their customers.

If it was defective (i.e. DOA), then why didn't they want to replace it as an even exchange? Did they claim that it was the manufactuer's responsibility to fix it?

Most companies won't accept a refund for an item where the rebate has been claimed (i.e. the UPC code is removed)...

Their "manager" seemed to always be out of the office over a period of three days and dealing with five people.

I'm just going to end up selling the part to a friend since it will actually work for what he needed. I'll get my money back and I will just go through Newegg.com. It's worth a shot.

Just an fyi.. I've heard many bad thigns about the rebate issues with the soyo motherboards. I believe that may be partly the fault of Soyo's Rebate center, though I havent personally had any experience with them...
.........this is just what I've heard, hearsay....

They wanted me to pay for shipping both ways for the exchange. Maybe I just got a prick CSR taking out his psychosexual frustrations on a poor sap on the other end of a telephone call, but I've yet to allow them my business since.

The thing is... was it a legitimate DOA? If so... then I don't understand why they would want you to pay shipping both ways. Unless... it was because the box was damaged due to the rebate... and they couldn't return it to the manufactuer themselves.

The same thing happened to me with a different company... I bought an item and submitted the rebate (cutting the UPC) and a few days later it went "kaput"... I ended up having to send it to the manufactuer for replacement. But since I had cut the box, I couldn't return it to the retailer.

I think that this is standard practice on returns like this... but yeah, they coulda tried to help you more.

I believe you meant 3btech.NET
and I also think that they ship out of South Bend, Indiana and not South Dakota.

I also recommend 3btech.net for anyone in the midwest if you can find a good deal on something there. I received a DOA PSU and the total turnaround time was just 3 business days (I guess it is only a hundred or so miles away from me, though).

I also agree that newegg.com is fantastic too and is usually the first place I look to purchase things.

I've also had good luck with Tiger Direct.
