problem with CD drive; any/all help is appreciated...

simply put: my CD burner tray will not come out.

if i push the eject button, i can hear the tray inside sliding out, but then i hear it slam up against the front of the drive, pause for a second, and then retreat back in again. i tried forcing the bay door down but it won't open. then i tried removing the burner and opening it up, but the damn screws are in too tight for me to do that too.

it's not a real expensive piece, but i'd rather know if there's a way i can salvage it before i go out and replace it.

any thoughts?

It's time to hit the gym, tubby.

Usually, taking the cover off the drive will allow you to remove obstacles and obstructions. Try a different screwdriver.

yeah, i got all of the screws out except for this stubborn last one. it's in there pretty tight, and all the screwdrivers i have that size are so thin that it's been hard for me to get a firm enough grip on them. thanks for the heads-up tho. i'll definitely try to get that last one out before i head to the store for a new drive.

There is a small hole in the front which you can insert a paperclip to manually eject the tray.

Some programs will freeze causing this problem.

I also had a tray freeze when I had the slave versus the master switched, Go figure.
