The prospect of Dell using AMD processors keeps poping up, but nothing ever happens. Michael Dell himself raised the possibility last year, but finally said that AMD could not supply them with enough processors to do it. AMD has some new fabrication coming on line over the next couple of years so maybe that will help.

I don't really think it has as much to do with AMD's availability as it has to do with the strongold that Intel has on them.

Ok...
(general question aimed at everyone...)

What is with all the Intel hate in the world?

Is it because they (apparently) force retail outfits to use their CPUs versus the competition (AMD)...or is it something else?

I see a lot of Intel hatred these days and I'm just wondering why.

After having problems with my previous Athlon system (namely being scared $#!tless that I'd have a meltdown), I switched to Intel and haven't looked back since. Maybe I'm not on the cutting edge of knowhow when it comes to performance versus cost but I'm really pleased with my P4 as well as the Cele D system I just built for a friend of mine.

Please...don't kill the messenger...(or in this case, me, the 'clueless doofus').

Because they drive up the cost to the consumer by monopolizing the markets.
..and IMHO..
Because Intel's Marketing division is also it's R&D division.
