2.1 speaker suggestion
my speakers have finally broke. the connection from the speakers to the subwoofer on my logitech z-340 has become so loose that when i plug it in all i get is a really loud hum. anyways, im in the market for another 2.1 system but i only want to pay around $50. any suggestions? i am willing to pay a bit more if the system has some nifty features such as a remote or has really great sound.
TIA |

Well since you are already familiar with Logitech...
How about the Logitech Z-3e? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...onics&v=glance Pretty much they sound like exactly what you are asking for. Shop around and you might even find a better price on them.

i looked at the logitech z-3s...but my only complaint is that the connections go through a single cable like on the z-340. that cable went and i couldnt use it at all. not saying that i would like to use a set that has only one speaker working. i was looking at the creative i-trigue 3300. any opinions on those? i think my main concern is that i want something that has cables that are stable.

I'm using the Logitech Z-2300 2.1 Speaker System.
The sound quality is outstanding. And I've listened to my share of decent home theater setups in my lifetime, and I was still impressed by the output of these so called "computer speakers." They're a bit more than you're looking for. They can be had for about $90, but I think that'll be justified by the sound. Here are some reviews: http://reviews.cnet.com/Logitech_Z_2...-30993080.html http://cnet.nytimes.com/Logitech_Z_2...0993080-2.html http://www.moditory.com/content/view/148/34/1/2/ http://www.pocketnow.com/index.php?a...reviews&id=669 |

hows the size on the subwoofer? thats the only complaint ive heard regarding the speakers. the only reason i ask is that i have to share my bedroom at school with someone else and i'm kinda pressed for space. if its not much larger than the sub that came with the z-340 that wouldnt be too bad. |

It's approximately 1'x1'x1'. I just stick the sub under my desk, which is perfect cause I like having something on which I can rest my feet anyway -- No extra space required! thanks for the linky agent plissken. Last edited by ArkiStan : 11-20-2005 at 05:08 PM. |

well...i broke down and ordred the z-2300's from amazon. the deal was made even sweeter by the addition of a $30 rebate from logitech, so final price is $60 for the speakers.

Great deal!
Although the Z-340 is a solid performer, you'll experience a whole new level of enjoyment with your new setup. Let us know how you like them. |
