Hi,
I'm trying to copy a video from my video recorder to mpeg using my ATI Radeon 9200 256 DDR 8X AGP VIVO All-in-Wonder. All the cables seem to be connected correctly and it's something I've done before, but I can't seem to get it to work this time. When I play the video, I just get the sound very faint and distorted from my speakers. I get no picture at all. Please could someone suggest what I might be doing wrong? Thanks, Joe |

Is it a home-made video, or a store bought movie? If it's store-bought, more than likely it has Macrovision copy protection on it (and ATI's software won't let you copy it).
Not sure if there's a third-party program that would do it though. |

Recheck the cables? My old Radeon AIW had some issues with the video-in cable coming upstuck.

Hi,
Thanks for replying. I've checked the cables and they're all plugged in properly. The video is something I recorded of the television. There's just a short clip that I wanted to save without having to keep the whole video. Thanks again, Joe |

check that your cable from your AIW card is in your Line-In (front) and not Speaker-Out or Microphone

My cable is plugged in correctly to line-in.
I did a test somehow to see if there was a problem (I can't remember how), but I did save the results in a text file. Here's what it said: "WDM (capture) drivers Checks the WDM (capture) drivers. Test result: WDM devices INF file not installed. WDM devices are not listed in registry. WDM devices are not loaded or enumerated by the device manager. WDM devices are not registered with DirectShow Explanation: There is a problem with the WDM drivers. TV and video capture must have these components. Recommendation: Get the capture drivers and the recommended ATI display driver from the ATI website: Go to www.ati.com. In the CustomerCare column, under BUILT BY ATI, click find a driver, and then follow the links to download the Recommended Driver. Click Capture Driver, and then follow the links to download the capture driver. ALL-IN-WONDER and VIVO users must install this component for correct operation of TV and video capture." I tried going to the website, but there was no link to a capture driver, so I just reinstalled ATI Multimedia Center and Catalyst Control Center. They installed OK, but now my screen is displayed in a small screen in the middle of my monitor with a black border around it. Do you know how to correct that? Thanks, Joe |
