Problem with video card?

Well I just got the EVGA 7800 and I recently just upgraded my mobo, processor, etc to a 3.2 ghz intel pentium with 2 gigs of ram. Pretty darn fast right? Well ever since I installed the video card, when I play Civ 4, every now and then the computer will just crash. I mean, the monitor will go to sleep mode but the computer seems to be humming along and I can't wake the monitor up. I'd have to reboot to get things going again. I am thinking that it might be my power supply but I am running a 350w Antec power supply which should be sufficient. I also installed the latest drivers for the card. Maybe it's just a glitch with Civ4?

Overheating, maybe?

That'll lock you up every time.

I have an eVAG 6800GT, and have noticed a similar problem when playing Fear at highest settings for an hour or two on ocassion. I havent quite figured out what is the cause of it, though I somewhat doubt it is heat issues because I have an aftermarket cooling system on the card, and it keeps it quite cool. -Though I could be wrong, as I've never checked temps right before this occurs.
I also have a 550W psu, so I doubt it could be power supply issues..
350W on the other hand might be pushing it, the Intel chip probably uses 70W itself, and I've seen usages around 220W with the 7800's in benchmarks, granted you should be getting very close to the 350W output with an Antec psu, you probly are still good.

Not sure what the issues are I've had similar problems, with other games, so it probably is an eVGa problem

Yeah... I would think that your power supply is a little on the low side for that kind of setup.

Cooling definitely might be an issue as well.

But I do have a question... when you got your new mobo, cpu and vid card, did you re-install Windows or did you just overlay a previous Windows installation? If you did an overlay, then you might have some conflicts going on with the old mobo files and drivers. Just a thought...

Did you load all the motherboard drivers as well? Or did you just stick with the stock Windows drivers?

At this point, I'd send in a bug report to the developers of Civ4.

I contacted evga and they told me to watch my +12V source and make sure it doesn't dip below 11.85V. I ran speedfan and although once in a while it goes below 12V it never get anywhere to 11.85V.
