Send a message via ICQ to oksys
Unhappy

Recently I had DSL installed in my apartment. Downloading files, view web pages, ICQ all work fine. I am just not able to check email from my school server, a pop3 account.

I have telocity DSL, with the DSL from the jack to the modem, to the linksys 4 port router, and then to 3 computers, 2 of which are used for email. All 3 are running windows 98, and MSIE/outlook express 5.5.

Previously, I had the 3rd computer setup as a proxy server, and was able to check the email by having the parameters setup on it and having the other 2 computers point to it. Since getting DSL, I want to no longer use the proxy server, as I thought the linksys router could do that?

Anyone know what I need to do to get my email to work? I have not been able to find anywhere to type in similar parameters/numbers like I did when I used the proxy server. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

oksys, I have had extremely bad experience with the cheap Linksys home routers, never had same problems as yours, but enough disconnections, failures and weird behaviors. I returned the darn thing and got myself a linux box as the router, and never had those problems.
