5.46GHz PC on display at CeBIT 2006

Overclocked as hell.

One of the world's fastest PCs will be on show at CeBIT 2006.

While we all sit at our work and home PCs every day, wishing they were a little bit faster, if you owned this monster, speed would be your last concern. The 5.46GHz uber machine is a joint project by Kingston Technology and Western Digital. The system uses asetek's VapoChill technology to enable the P4 3.8GHz CPU to run at an incredible 5.46GHZ. The machine also makes use of asetek's WaterChill graphics and motherboard chipset cooling, Kingston Technology's HyperX RAM and the WD Raptor X 150 GB SATA drive from Western Digital.

"To reach a CPU speed at 5.46 GHz it is crucial to have very efficient cooling on all essential hardware. That is why we have chosen phase-change cooling reaching CPU surroundings close to -33 Celsius degrees under load. Additionally the graphics card and the motherboard chipset are chilled by asetek's highly recognized and awarded water-cooling product line; WaterChill," comments Morten Berg-Christensen, Senior Communications Manager at asetek.

I can't even imagine how much one of these would set you back, but with less cooling it could probably double as a replacement for your central heating. The PC will be on display in the asetek booth in Hall 22, Stand C20, at this year's CeBIT.

1.) I wonder if it's a regular P4 or a Pentium D?
2.) I wonder what they would've achieved on an Athlon with that cooling.

Am I the only one worrying about what the energy bill would be to run this.

Why would that worry you?

I figure if you can afford that set-up, you can afford the electricity bills. If it was too much, you could always unplug your freezer and and just use the case
