Inflatable Backyard Theater? Dayuuuum!!!

What will they think of next!!!

http://www.smarthome.com/597508.html

Quote:

* Inflatable home theater sets up in the back yard for watching movies & sports in the pool or on the grass

* Durable PVC frame and screen set up in minutes, and 100-watt speakers are safe for outdoor use

* Connects to any projector and can expand to additional outdoor speakers if desired

Do you hate to choose between lounging in the pool and watching the big game indoors on a nice, sunny day? You don't have to make that tough decision any more. The 8-Foot Inflatable Backyard Theater w/Speakers brings the entertainment to the back yard. This full-size screen comes with a pair of 100-watt amplified speakers and inflates to its 96-inch viewing area in minutes, thanks to the included air pump. Create a drive-in experience in your own backyard!

Weather-Resistant Materials for Outdoor Use
The durable 8-Foot Inflatable Backyard Theater w/Speakers is designed for outdoor use. Made of commercial-grade PVC, the inflatable frame features ultra-sonic welded seams and comes with a plastic ground sheet and a repair kit. The commercial-grade amplified speakers feature moisture-resistant cones for use in the great outdoors.

Anyone ever heard of something like this before?

leave it to people to think of something idiotic, and make millions out of it.

or in this case, attempt to.

hmmm.. from reading the linky, it isnt any different from putting up a white cloth and projecting the image off of, well, a projector on to it. or using a blank wall and using that same projector.

man, i gotta start thinking of the dumbest things... i might make money out of it!

the anheuser busch brewery starting playing movies once a week in their courtyard for free over the summer. They used a much bigger version of this with some ok DJ-equipment from a local radio station. It was the first time I'd seen it and wasn't a bad idea. It was a great way to get a whole bunch of friends together and kick back and relax with some brews. Free popcorn too.

However, I think that picture is fabricated. What projector works in that much lighting to the point where you can watch what it's displaying?

Which one of you home theater gurus wants to take your 2-10K projector and expose it to the elements? Not to mention, most of you probably have it mounted to the ceiling already. U gonna buy a separate projector for this?

Also, I'm not sure my neighbors would enjoy me having home theater parties in the backyard every weekend. Neat idea, not much practicality.

Wow gwilks, I wish our Anheuser brewery did that. I work right across the street from one.

I don't remember who it was, but someone had one on MTV Cribs recently. You can buy it in the Skymall magazine you read on planes.
