upscaling question- will this a necessary feature in the future?
I am about to buy a receiver, considering the DENON AVR-2807. My question is about their ability to do "analog-to-HDMI video conversion". Won't this feature be a moot point soon since the world is going High Def.? Will this feature still play a role?

I guess if you're still considering keeping your current non-HD DVD collection it could come in handy. But it's only one of the many upscaling options you'll have. I'm not sure what other equipment you currently have, but most Hi-def TVs will have built-in upscalers. HD-DVD players will also upscale, as well as dedicated upscaling players. With all these options, I don't think you would really need it in a receiver. Do some research on AVSforum.com and see how well the Denon upscales. Depending on the chip it uses different hardware will upscale differently. Try to use whatever option provides the best quality.

It sounds like a pretty decent feature because you could use your reciever as a switch.
