I kept saying for the last 3 years I'd buy one with part of my annual bonus, but I've been working to become 100% debt free. Now that I am, I tackle building a new house so all my money's going towards saving for that.

i feel ya. i just cleared my debt, and now im working towards getting a new HDTV for my HD cable box (its been sitting HDTV-less for the past 6 months now). it wont happen til maybe xmas time, if at all this year.

at least youre spending your money wisely. your HDTV will be there, dont worry. by the time youyre ready, whatever's great now will be cheaper in 6 months, and maybe you'd have the money then.
or have the money then for a BETTER HDTV, you know.

thats what i keep saying to myself to appease my HD hunger... which is tough, seeing as football season is here, and i just am about to finish my new HTPC. ugh!

Yesterday's woot! was particularly enticing. A projector in a sleek sexy case, quiet, with decent specs for a DLP, awesome reviews from independent sources, etc., but not TRULY high-def. Still, great for movies and better resolution than TV.

And it was $949 + $5 shipping, with a $300 rebate. Other stores have it too, like BH, but their shipping is more.

Dammit. If only I didn't owe so much credit card and car stuff right now...

One of the benefits of being in Germany is that it completely removes the desire for high end electronics (other than portable electronics).

I know it makes no sense to invest in home theater equipment since I can't bring it back to the US . . . makes saving money here nice and easy!

However, I am still spending a decent grip on camera gear and will likely pick up a new laptop sometime early next year . . . oh yeah, and I need a new iPod . . . so if that's the big Apple announcement on 9/12, then I'll probably pick one up when I'm back in the US end-October . . .

But at least I'm able to refrain from HDTVs and XBox360s and the like . . . yeah . . . saves lots of money . . .
