Best 37" LCD HD TV??
Hi guys,
I've recently seen a slew of 37" LCD TVs for around the $1000 level, all "no name" brands, but based on everyone that I've read, excellent quality. I am wondering which is the best? Syntax Olevia? If so, what're the differences between the 3 different 37" models they have? Vizio? Sceptre? My budget is around $1000 and I desperately need a TV. A 37 incher seems like the largest/best I can get for my budget. Thank you. |

I'm betting they are all similar. Perhaps all the exact same LCD panel rebadged and reframed. I'd shop by features and by price. If you're into resolution you'll pay about $300-$500 more for a 1080P which future proofs you to some degree and makes 1080i look good. Make sure it has 1080P inputs. Of course it's wise to see the TV before you buy it.

Go with costco. Even if the tv isn't good, they make up for it with their return policy.

A great way to go if you don't "need" 1080P. (It used to be 1080P but now it's not.)

A good method is to really screen what the tv has.
1) DVI (I'd look for one that has that, though I maybe spelling that wrong) 2) Should have component connections (I saw one that didn't) 3) Should be a HD TV. There is a difference between HD Ready and HD Compatable (in some companies, they mean, can read HD input, but is NOT HD) 4) HD Tuner (there are alot of TV's that do not come with a Tuner (channel switcher). If you don't have a cable box, this will become a necessity. 5) Speakers. Some come with them, some don't. But HD speakers are basically junk, you want an Amplifier and a surround sound set. 6) Resolution. If its a LCD, it should have a resolution greater than 1024 786. If you are going for a LCD, you should try and find a Widescreen. 7) Look for reviews. If its been created, SOMEONE has put up a review for it. Look for them. |

I would suggest go for Syntax Olevia though it’s not a very big name in the expensive market but if you want an inexpensive HDTV it is the name worth knowing…and believe me you will get all the qualifying features in it…
