I'm setting up a friend's home theater system, and have run into a problem. He has a Pioneer VX-515 receiver (I've uploaded the manual HERE in PDF format).

I'm trying to hook up a DVD player, karaoke machine, and satellite STB to the amp. I have the satellite STB hooked up via component video (and use component video to hook up the TV). The DVD player is hooked up to the DVD composite inputs on the receiver (yes I know this isn't a good idea -- although this isn't a good idea for quality reasons, I still need to know how to do this for now.

Anyways, the satellite STB works fine when I go to TV/Sat mode on the amp -- but I cannot get the DVD player to function at all. I switch the receiver to DVD mode, and still get the satellite audio/video.

Any ideas what I can do in this situation? Would I need to hook up composite video to the TV as well for this to work? (and if so, why wouldn't I even get audio from the DVD player?)
