Home Theater Question
I have a Kenwood receiver that I bought back in 2000. At the time it was the top of the line receiver(100x5) and has optical inputs and sports DTS 5.1. I have a 12" powered sub, and I picked up the two rear speakers and the center from Kenwood for about $80 total. can I just pick up any bookshelf speakers for the fronts assuming they are the same Ohm rating or is there more I would need to take into consideration? I was using two borrowed fronts, but I want little ones that I can mount in the corner of the room by the ceiling.

You can use any speaker with the same impedence (Ohm rating), but...
For a consistent sound volume, you should try to find speakers that have a similar sensitivity rating (dB/Wm). For a consistent sound tone, you want to get speakers that have similar components (tweaters, mids, etc.) or even matched components. The easiest way to do this is to get the same manufacturer and even line of speakers, but you have to work within your budget, obviously. If you like your center speaker, try to find matching fronts. I don't think it's as critical that the surrounds match the front, but for home theater you want the L-C-R to all match as much as possible.
