Pc > Lcd Tv

My computer monitor is a widescreen LCD monitor with 1920x1200 native res and i have a nvidia 8600 video card that is about 3+ years old. If I were to get a 46" LCD TV and hook up my PC to it at the same resolution, would I have any refresh rate issues or would it look just like my monitor?

It wouldn't display at the exact same resolution - if you got a 1080p LCD TV, it would display a maximum of 1920x1080, assuming your video card supports that resolution. That's kind of a big monitor tho - you'll have to sit pretty far back to see the whole screen, but still be close enough to read it.

Here's a guy that did it with a 32":

looks like my video card does have a 1920x1080 setting. i wouldn't really use the TV for regular computer use. just for playing movie files off my computer.

Except for "big screen" gaming or movie watching, LCD TVs doubling as computer monitors just suck in my opinion.

If it's your only choice, then fine... but it sure wouldn't be my preference.

totaly agree. i don't think i'd want to use it for regular comuputing. i do a lot of graphics so i need my somewhat calibrated PC monitor for that. and i'm often pushing single pixels around (literally) so i need to get all up in its face. i've got my sweet 24" baby which is perfect for that. the TV would be simply for watching video.

speaking of which, DF, how are you liking your new monitor?
