So lets say I had about a 1000 to spend on a Home Theatre setup. I wouldn't need a TV, but everything else is needed. I'm looking for DVD, surround sound, possibly optical out for my MD player. Think of it as a budget system....

Let's see...
Energy Take 5 with xl-8 subwoofer = $600 Toshiba SD1600 = $180 Then find a nice receiver with the $220 left over. Should be easy... |

i agree with leon's setup, but i would try to scrounge up a additional 100 dollars or so. that way you can get something that will feed clean wattage to the take 5's. oh and another thing, though toshiba dvd players are nice and everything, i wish that they read cd-r's. its really annoying that i have a bunch of burned vcds but my dvd player wont play them. just a thought. maybe consider the jvc line of dvd players?
