I'm looking at one of their 5 speaker home theater packages. Anybody have any thoughts on their products in general? I've seen them pretty cheap refurbished on eBay. I'm just not sure of their quality. I've heard they're pretty good for their size. What do you guys think?

Can you tell us the model number? We need to look at its specs.

Never been impressed
I've never been very impressed with there products in general. The sound quality hasn't been there and they seem so cheap. Of course I haven't looked at them in about a year, but regardless, I went with some Klipsch. Try the Infinity brand or JBL, both seem affordable.

Cambridge Soundsworks products are okay. But they have surpassed by competing products by Klipsch, Midiland and others.

In my opinion, The CSW stuff isn't really suited for home theater apps... If it's going to be used for a PC setup, then by all means go for it. But for Home Theater, your money would be best placed elsewhere...

I think ucbstan is refering to the Home Theater line of Cambridge speakers... Not the ones of the computer variety.
![]() I have never sampled their quality nor have I heard anything about them - good or bad... They just seem kinda pricey when you compare them to Klipsch, Energys, Paradigms... Or are you talking about the likes of these: ![]() The MovieWorks 5.1 (shown above) got mediocre reviews. http://www.audioreview.com/reviews/S...uct_6993.shtml |

Here's my 5.1 Setup:
Fronts: ![]() Paradigm Monitor 7's Center: ![]() Paradigm CC-350 Rears: ![]() Paradigm Mini Monitors Sub: ![]() JBL PSW-D112 The 5-piece Paradigm set should run you about $1,200.00 and is most likely a way better value than the Cambridge. |

![]() This was more of what I was looking at. It goes for a little less than $200 refurbished on eBay. It probably doesn't let out much power with the small size and passive subwoofer, but I thought it would be ok for my extremely small apartment. What do you think? Could I still get a better value with the other brands you guys recommended (klipsch, JBL, infinity...)? Here are some of the specs... MAIN SPEAKER TYPE -------------- SATELLITE CENTER SPEAKER TYPE ----------- ACOUSTIC SUSPENSION SURROUND SPEAKER TYPE ------- MONOPOLE SUBWOOFER INCLUDED ----------- YES BUILT-IN SUBWOOFER ------------ NO SUBWOOFER DRIVER SIZE ------- 6¨ö" WEIGHT ----------------------------------- 35 LBS FRONT SPEAKER DIMESIONS ----- 6¨ù"H S 4¨ù"W X 3 1/8"D REAR SPEAKER DIMENSIONS ----- 4"H X 4"W X 3 5/8"D CENTER SPEAKER DIMENSIONS --- 4¨ù"H X 14"W X 7¨ú"D SUBWOOFER DIMENSIONS -------- 15"H X 8"W X 8"D |

Well if we're gonna start showing off... hehe...
This is what I have now. Keep in mind my living room is only about 200 sq ft. My fronts and rears: JBL S-38's ![]() Center: JBL S-Center ![]() Sub: JBL PB10 ![]() I spent about $950 to snag all of this, and in my humble opinion, sounds fricken awesome. As Leon once said, it is very important to have matching fronts and center, and I feel rears as well. My rears are a little overkill yes, but hot damn they make up for it in sound... |

It should be decent for a small apartment. You can't really get a Klipsch or Energys for that price.

I have the CSW Desktop Theater 2500. They sound great for thier size and price. I don't really listen to much music from them, but for games and DVD's they sound great. It depends how much you want to spend - and if you get the movieworks, you won't be disapointed.
