I am looking to complete my home theater setup and still need a center channel and a subwoofer. I have a Sony STR-DE545 receiver/amp (500 x 5), Sony TC-WE435 cassatte deck, Sony CDPCE345 cd changer, Yamaha A638 speakers (8in 3-way), Optimus rear speakers (I know they are Radio Shack, but they are the ones that ran 79.99 ea regular price and I got them for about $60 for both and they don't sound that bad.)
Any recomendations for the center and sub. I don't want to spend a lot of money (gettin' hitched March 24 and just had a house built). I was reading on amazon where a lot of people liked the KLH center and the amplified 10" sub. They are not my first choice, but they are cheap ($40 for center and about $110 for sub) I was orginally going to get the matching Yamaha center and sub, but at $150 ea vs $150 for the cheapo KLH. Anyone had any luck with KLH or have any other suggestions or where to get good deals on Yamaha? Thanks |

The Yamaha center channel is very, I don't dig on the KLH one.
The KLH sub though, is a good deal, though it does distort at full volume, I actually like it better than the Yamaha. I'd get the Yamaha center, the KLH will get drowned out by those A638's. The KLH sub should be fine though. Oh, and congrats on the marriage.

Thanks.
I think that is what I might do is get the Yamaha center and KLH sub. The house isn't big enough to justify a larger sub than a big ol' 10" Personally I like clarity and tightness over volume and boominess, so spending money on a good center would be more beneficial. Know anywhere that has Yamaha besides Best Buy? Although they do have all home audio speakers on sale. |

I think j&r has some Yamaha speakers. You want your fronts and center channel to match, so you might want to look into the Yamaha AC40X for your center channel.
