Howdy folks, need advice in regard to busted sub...

Damn you George!!!!

After purchasing TPM the other day I sat down and enjoyed the goodness at home. Since the wife was out of town I was able to enjoy it like any man should and cranked it up.

....and damn did it sound beautiful. The pod race was just incredible.

Well yeaterday I got home from work and settled into the couch for a viewing of The Mummy Returns. Instantly I became aware of the lack of anything comming from my sub. Here's my system specs:

Sony DA-333ES receiver.
B&W LCR6-S2 (all around including center)
Velodyne VA-1512 sub

After fiddling around with the sub I was able to get it going again by turning off the internal low pass crossover. WHEW!!!!

....however, the crossover frequency the Sony receiver uses for the sub output is way too high for my tastes, especially since my main speakers have pretty decent low end punch. The sub is no longer covered by warranty and the shop I purchased it at has since gone out of business, therefore I would have to send the sub directly to Velodyne for repair. The crossover itself is not too expensive, but the cost of shipping the sub (at 67 lbs.) makes it difficult to justify the cost of not just going out and buying an adjustable crossover for the sub and leaving the internal low pass crossover on the sub bypassed.

I guess my main concern is if I somehow damaged the amp in the sub. If I send it in they'll check it out, but "ear balling" it sounds fine except for the high crossover frequency. Any advice or recommendation for a seperate crossover?
