Using the CROSSOVER inputs on your sub...
I was reading through some home theater sites and I wondered.... Does is make a big difference in sound quality if you use the 'crossover' input on the sub instead of the regular inputs? Does anybody know any good sites with instructions on how I could do this?
thanks |

It doesn't really matter whether you set the crossover point on the sub or the processor (receiver). What do you have your set to? I have mine set at the receiver for 80hz.

if i understood the instructions for my sub correctly, the only time you want to use the crossover inputs is if your receiver does not have a pre-out for the sub. in that case, the receiver is sending the full signal (20hz-20,000hz or whatever) to the sub, and by using the crossover inputs, you can tell it "don't reproduce sounds above x frequency". on the other hand, if you have a sub pre-out on the receiver, the decoder on the receiver is sending whatever dolby determines is the "bass singal" to the sub, and that's what the sub reproduces. of course, i could be wrong.... |
