Does Apex Need to Upgrade His Home Theater Speakers?

Speak your mind!

Should I upgrade or not? Does my ghetto-fabulous old-school coffin shaped JBL Studio series speakers need replacement?

BTW, sub won't be upgraded this time around. Next time though...

BTW, sorry in advance if the pictures load slow or not at all. Their server is bleh.

I have basically 3 options:

1. Keep what I have (JBL S312 front, S-Center center, HLS610 surrounds)
2. Upgrade to (Aurum Cantus Leisure2 Deluxe):

All around.

3. Really upgrade to:

Front (Aurum Cantus Music Goddess):

Rear & Surrounds (Aurum Cantus Leisure 2 Deluxe):

(picture above)

Center (Aurum Cantus MR-C):

For reference, the Leisure 2 Deluxe is the improved version of the Leisure 2 (with better voice coil and larger magnet on mid, and sloped sides). The Leisure 2 is the speaker the Red Rose Rosebud 2 ($3500 per pair) were built on (Yes, Mark Levinson sources from China, believe it or not).

Why am I considering? The Leisure 2 Deluxe are $545 per pair shipped for the next few days.

Of course, I could always go down to Rockets or down 1 more level to Diva's. That way, there's no time constraint.

Unfortunately the Atlantic System's center doesn't fit in my fireplace alcove. Ugh.

Come on, this one is easy Apex. If your fireplace alcove doesnt fit the speakers you want...build a new fireplace alcove!

That said, I am one of those people who says buying the best will always do you right. So, I would just say contact your contractor and send your wife to the spa for a couple of days...she'll never notice.

Have you heard these speakers and compared them to Levinson's? Do they have a web page or anything? I searched google and came up with nothing. Where are you buying these bad boys?
