Here's what I have so far on the colors of the woods(I'm guessing at the colors). If I'm wrong on any of these, please do let me know.

Lei, if you can, please post which speakers are available in which finishes, as well as which finishes are currently in stock. Unfortunately, I do not remember all of them. If you'd like to include the prices and things, feel free to do so.

You also set the deadline date as today (11/12/02). Since the original thread is moved, you may want to push the deadline back a day or two so that people get a chance to move over here from the old thread, and figure out what they want.

Speakers in stock

Here is a list of speakers in stock from the conversation with manufacturer last night. Again, it is preferred to choose from the list, and meanwhile, I'll check with the manufacturer again regarding the added cost and lead-time for other finishes (non-stock).

1. Music Goddess: Poplar
2. MR-C: beech
3. Leisure2: beech and cherry
4. Leisure2 Deluxe: Walnut (real wood polished and clear coated)

1, 2, and 3 can be either flat finish or shiny with clear coat.

According to the manufacturer, the poplar matches beech in color very well and gives more luxury looking to large boxes like the Music Goddess.

From what I understand:

1. Music Goddess: Poplar (Beech not currently in stock)
2. MR-C: beech (Walnut not currently in stock)
3. Leisure2: beech and cherry
4. Leisure2 Deluxe (real polished and clear coated wood sides, not just veneer): Walnut (Rosewood not currently in stock)

Color updates

Music Goddess (MG), MR-C, and Leisure2 (L2) can be obtained with four veneer finishes, i.e. poplar, beech, cherry, and walnut.

Hmm.. That makes for some interesting choices. Someone needs to show them the rosewood finishes on the Rockets and convince em to carry the Music Goddess and MR-C in that. Heheh.

Since I have quite a bit of distance between my fronts and the Surrounds & Rears, I'm guessing 2 kinds of wood won't be too bad, especially since my carpet and fireplace colors are pretty neutral. Also, my center will be hidden in the fireplace alcove...

My frontrunner:

1 Pair Music Goddess, Poplar ($1460 + 0)
2 Pairs Leisure2 Deluxe, Rosewood ($545 x 2 + 0)
1 Pair Leisure2 Deluxe Stands ($110 or so)
1 MR-C, Poplar ($468 + $20)

All clearcoated. $3148 or so.

Does that look right?

Cheaper 2nd option:

3 Pairs Leisure2 Deluxe, Rosewood ($545 x 3 + 0)
1 MR-C, Beech ($468 + 0)
2 Pairs Leisure2 Deluxe Stands ($110 x 2 or so)

All clearcoated. $2323 or so.

Hmm, less than $1k difference from high end to low end.

All,

There might be some confusions I have made. "No changes on Leisure2 Deluxe" means that it will come with the walnut finish, since they stopped rosewood for a while. The clearcoated walnut is similar to the Sonus Faber Concerto finish on the sides. Since quite a few people are interested in the rosewood finish, I'll see if they could use cherry on the Deluxe, which is close to rosewood but a little lighter. However, for those who are prone to the rosewood, please re-consider the walnut in clearcoat, which is a nice finish indeed and more popular in Chinese market. Here is an example.

Finally!!

Please let me know your final order list ASAP, since the leadtime will be around 7 days longer due to the non-stock finishes.

OK, I'm in for the set I specified above. Here it is again (price adjusted):

1 Pair Music Goddess, Poplar ($1460 + 0)
2 Pairs Leisure2 Deluxe, Rosewood ($545 x 2 + 20 x 2)
1 Pair Leisure2 Deluxe Stands ($110 or so)
1 MR-C, Poplar ($468 + $20)

All clearcoated. $3188 or so.

I just asked a friend and he might be in for a few Deluxes as well. He'll get back to me tonight. Is anyone planning to split a Leisure 2 Deluxe (to use as a center channel)?

BTW, anyone have any idea how tall the stands are for the L2D? I might actually have to stand them on stands. LOL.

Oh boy, unfortunately, too short for my purposes. I'm only using them on the rear speakers, so they'd have to at least be the height of my couch. Guess I can't use em. I'll email you.

The orders have been placed. For most items, eg. the speakers with custom finish, it will take about a week or so for the fabrication and another week or so for gathering them together from various manufacturers, then shipping will be arranged. I'll post update here. Of course, you may drop me e-mail for any questions.

Regards, Lei

Here is the order status, and I'll post update at each major check points.

The order was placed about a week ago, and the manufacturer promised to ship them out within two weeks, which means they will be shipped to the Dalian Port by another week or so (12/5). If everything works as expected, they should arrive there in a week (12/12) and be loaded onto a fast/direct line to New York on 12/18. The ship should arrive in New York in about 20 days (01/08/03). Thanks again for showing interest of the power purchase.

Have a nice holiday,
Lei

The factory delivery is delayed about a week due to the custom color on the Leisure2 Deluxe and 3-layer clear coats need to be natually dried in order for optimal finish. Please check back this forum in a week for update. Thanks.

The speakers departed the factory on Monday 12/16, and they should arrive at the Dalian Port in about a week (12/23). There is one direct ship to NY every Saturday, and hopefully our stuffs can get loaded on 12/28. Please check back in a week also for update.

The items were supposedly shipped on Saturday, but at the last minute they request for English labels on the cartons. Therefore another layer of package has to be added, and the shipping will be next Saturday, 01/04/03. I never imagined shipping internationally can be so troublesome, plus the heavy snow in Dalian, my brother there is really exhausted

The good news is that the speakers are top-level quality according to my brother after inspection. The package is also excellent, velvet fabric inside, and three carton boxes out. The amps and CD players are also very very good, which makes the wait even harder.

Happy New Year to everyone!

Gabriel, we should have everything in NY late Janurary. Then I would add another week for CA shipment or several days for east coast shipment.

Good news. All items have left Dalian Port on Saturday and should arrive at NY port by the end of this month.

Thanks for your patience.

Called the shipping agent, Pan Link, yesterday, and they said that it is on schedule (the end of this month). Will let everybody know once the "puppies" are here.
