I don't know very much about home theatre systems. Is this system a good deal for the price? Any suggestions/recommendations in this price range are appreciated. I'm also interested in complete systems that include a receiver. I'm not looking for earth shattering great quality, but something reasonable, as the wife and I don't watch that much TV. |

Never heard of them. In general,Yamaha makes quality products. This set could be a good starter HT for a small room. However, both dynamic and bass will be limited due to the size of the drivers.

Minuse Bose, you pretty much get what you pay for in the HT market. Expect them to be $150 speakers. They're not gonna be good if you're a picky person on accuracy of reproduction. Mid levels will probably be flat, bass will be boomy and not clear, highs will probably be distorted. You can't expect much out of them for $150.
Keep in mind also, Its a better idea to buy everything separate rather than a packge deal with a receiver and everything. KLH is a decent company that makes some low-end speakers. For receivers on the cheap, I'm gonna dodge some flames and I hate to admit it, but sony has decent receivers for under the $200 barrier. But its sony. . . hehe. |
