Well, we might have a winner. Of course, now I have to decide what I really want to get. Damn choices.

60" Grand Wega vs. Toshiba vs. projector (TBD)

The hitachi CP-SX5500 is actually a pretty nice unit. It does have some problems with the blacks looking purple/blue. It also seems to have some quality control issues, which hitachi did not want to address. They have a new, updated mode, the CP-SX5600, which is supposed to be an improvement.

The CP-SX5500 has a very high fill ratio, above 93% or so. The blacks aren't as good as the better DLP offerings, but they're better than most LCD projectors (though not all).

I believe that 1-1 pixel mapping is not possible through the DVI input, which is a big minus. Sadly, there seem to be a bunch of manufacturers who think this is unnecessary. Bleh on them.

Overall, it's a nice projector when it came out. There are probably better choices for the money these days though.

Apex, speaking of pixel mapping, do you know if it is possilbe on the HS-10? I have seen conflicting info.

And while I'm on the topic, any word on the HS-10?

Per pixel mapping is possible on the HS-10, I believe. AVS Forums has some info on how to do it. The best price right now from a good reseller is from CDW, strangely enough. It's actually better than I can get, especially if your company buys stuff from CDW. It's listed at $2309.45 right on their website, but you can get it lower if your company has an account with them. Pretty amazing price.

Cool thanks for the info. We have an account with them but I can't order something for personal use and then pay them back

Tell CDW about your account, and ask them if they'll give you the same discount. If they say no, then ask them what kind of discount they will give you instead. Do it in a confident manner, as if complying with your request would be nothing short of reasonable. It's never failed me.

Hehe, that would be one way to go. But that'll probably be the end of all of my toys.
