touch screen remotes
my remote collection is expanding, and i find that my main receiver remote doesnt do all that my TV remote, DVD remote, and xBox remote can do, so i am looking at getting a learning remote that can get rid of the Xbox and receiver remote. I like the idea of the LCD remote, but i dont want a P.O.S.
Target has teh RCA remote for 79 right now, and the Sonys run from 150-200. Anyone have any luck with these? i have some functions on my remotes that i use, and the reciever remote doesnt learn these functions. anyhelp is very much appreciated.

Sony
I had the Sony that is out (acutally almost exactly like the new one that runs for 125+ or so) I found it to be much to big for everyday use. I have seen the new one at circuit city and they seemed to have improved it's size and the LCD itself, but I still think it's a bit too large. I don't like having to look at the remote when I want to change a button They one I had contrast issues with the LCD. A buddy of mine has a Phillips Pronto and I think that will be the way I will go when I am ready to buy one. It comes with software that lets you create your own templates. I am waiting to get a projector so there isn't any extra room in the budget right now.

The Xbox remote is actually an RCA remote so RCA codes will work with a remote that can be programed. I have my onkyo "non-lcd" remote doing this now. -C |

I own the JBL and find it really easy to use and program. It is a lot of remote for the money. Just don't expect a Philips Pronto for 50.00 bucks. You might want to visit this link for more info before you buy. TC1000 message board

my remotes:
DVD changer: ![]() Receiver remote: ![]() TV: ![]() XBox: ![]() The DVD remote has a jog/scroll wheel which no other remote I have seen will replace, so i may be stuck with that one. My receiver remote has tons of functions that I use daily and dont want to loose as well as the guideplus functions of the TV remote. The other functions on the TV remote work on my receiver remote. does anyone have any expereince with the normal sony learning remotes? do they offer reciever controls as well? edit: the reciver remote has a cover that lifts up to reveal 20 or so more buttons. these control anything from the TV input to the surround controls |
