HDTV as external monitor?
I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, but I just got a RCA 34 inch HDTV(w00t)for my casa and I was wondering if I could hook up my PC to it so I can play some Unreal Tourney online. I am running a Radeon ATI All in Wonder with a DVI out on a PC with plenty o' RAM, and a 1.5 ghz Pentium. I am really not sure of how to accomplish this, so I'll let you know what I've done and maybe you can help a hermano out:
I connected the HDTV to my computer and booted it up no problem. I am running Windows XP so I got a message saying that I was running the monitor at its' lowest resolution. I downloaded the latest driver from ATI, which allowed me to bump it up to 1920 x 540 resolution. But it does not look right(super scrunched). I can run it at 600 x 400 but of course, I have to scroll not only down but left and right. Every other resolution requires me to do that wierd mouse scrolling thing where you put the cursor at the far end of the screen, and it scrolls in that direction. I am not sure what to do, so I am hoping one of you techies has done something like this before. If you have any idea wtf I am talking about, please shed some light because I am not sure what to do next. I love you. ~eSDee |

see if you can set the resolution on the card to the same res of the hdtv. most hdtv's ive used have some sort of image strecher so that a regular signal will take up the whole screen. so if yours does that, change it so that the image looks normal. if the ati's driver doesnt let you set a compatable resolution, try PowerStrip. it can help you create a custom driver for your card so that it can run at a different res. be careful with this though, it might not work and you will have to reload an ati driver through safe mode or something.
