This topic has been covered a few times, however, the price range that I'm looking for is higher than the posts before, so I thought I'd post it again.

I'm looking to buy a set of speakers and a receiver for my father's brithday (he put me through college, I buy him speakers... i guess it should be car or something, but I'm still in grad school)

He already has a wide screen TV and dvd player. I'm looking for Home Theater type speakers + receiver. I know that he would personally prefer a Bose set, but I've vowed against that.

Had I thought about this earlier, I would have probably got him in on the last AR / Shengya GP and get him an A10 + LD2 like what I got (oh where oh where is the Shengya equipment?), but I didn't have that much foresight.

Do you guys have any suggestions? I have one month to put this together.

Get an Energy Take 5 speaker set with a decent Denon AV receiver. That should cost you around 900-1000.
