Looking for good 6.1 Receiver - Onkyo TXSR601 ?

My dad is looking to buy my grandfather a 6.1 Receiver for his home theater setup. Unfortunately we don't know much about what he wants except that it's 6.1 and had mentioned Onkyo. I was checking OneCall.com and came across the Onkyo TXSR601. Is this a good 6.1 Receiver? Are there better ones? Looking for the best bang per buck.

I have this Onkyo receiver. It's very clear and sounds great; it's a nice unit. I'm sure that there are better receivers out there, but in terms of bang-for-the-buck, I can't really comment as I don't have much experience with other models.

You can't beat it for the price. I've had Pioneer and Denon but the Onkyo blows them away.

imo, it's hard to go wrong with an onkyo, especially on a value per dollar spent basis

Woops so I goth im the 601 and it turns out the 601 has no ground connection in the back which he needed to hook up a turntable with. Too bad he opened it and OneCall said they couldn't accept it for return anymore

I don't know if it would work or not, but i've seen adapters that plug into a wall socket that has a ground wire pigtail hanging off of it. I wonder if you hooked into this if that would work?
