VGA output on receiver?

I'm having trouble connecting component outputs on my dvd player to the vga input on my projector tv. A converter plus cables are too expensive for my tastes. Can anyone recommend an a/v receiver (i was planning on purchasing one anyways) with vga outputs?

It would be hard to find such a receiver. Only some advanced separate processors have RGBHV / VGA out and getting one on a used market will set you back for several big Ks. There may be a simpler way. Check again if your pjTV can accept Component- thru-VGA input with the special cable (some projectors can) and then run Component-to-VGA cable from DVD player to TV.
If it can't, you may want to buy a standalone DVD player with VGA output and use it with high resolution VGA-to-VGA cable.
I have a set-up like this for three years now and picture quality is equal or better all I've seen from even DVI-to-DVI set-ups.
Only HTPC with DVI, SDI mods or dedicated PC based DVD player is better than this.

You're right, vga inputs on a receiver are quite rare and out of my price range. I just found an affordable hdtv to component cable that will do it for me.

Why are VGA outputs so rare/expensive to find on receivers?

Recievers aren't used to process video signals and the more video connections are interrupted the weaker they become or are more subject to interference so many don't have any sort of video imputs.
