Phillips and Onkyo make the best remotes, sorry I do not have time to find a link for you.
This is based on the idea that you are willing to spend over $200 for a good remote though. |

I bought the 6 in 1 version of the Kameleon and love it. Best remote I've owned to date. Now if I can get the nieces and nephews to quit playing Star Trek with it!

Get a Pronto!
You can get the original Phillips Pronto (TSU1000) for about $100. I have had one now for about 5 years (for $380) and it still works great. Bought it originally with the recharge base and battery and I'm still using the original one.
I just spent part of the day saturday programming it to work with my new HD decoder (DCT-6200). It's great having a 5 year old remote that still works with new equipment. The best part about the Pronto line is the ProntoEdit software.. very easy (but can be time consuming) to setup it up. I downloaded someone else's config off of remotecentral and update the IR commands to my equipment. The downside is it did take me several hours to get the new equipment programmed, but it was well worth it. I agree with attgig, go to remotecentral and read up. Get a good remote and you will be much happier with it for the long run. I've been trying to talk my wife into letting me buy the new TSU6000 (http://www.remotecentral.com/prontopro/index.html). My dad keeps buying various universal remotes and has spent far more buying cheaper remotes that I have with the Pronto. Sorry for the long reply.. but one other thing. If you need to consider the WAF (wife acceptance factor), my wife totally digs the pronto.. instead of having to turn on each component, select the right inputs, etc.. she uses the pronto, clicks 'watch something', choses DVD, SATELLITE, or HDTV, then get appropriate options from there.. under DVD is a list of all of our movies in our changer, under HDTV is all of our HD channels, and satellite is setup like our satellite remote with the proper guide navigation buttons.. If she changes from HD to Satellite all of the equipment is switched to the proper inputs/outputs.. beautiful. She was freaking out last week when I didn't have the HD decoder programmed in yet. probably more than you ever wanted to know.. ![]() |
