Connect computer to plasma screen for powerpoint presentations?

At my work we recently built a new wing and in this wing there is going to be a work area for the residents and fellows. I am in charge of filling it with some cutting edge technology. I already purchased all the computers and servers and I *was* going to purchase a nice projector for them to show their powerpoint presentations, however one of the residents is an MIT grad and is a super geek and has requested that we put a plasma screen in there instead. My boss has given me the ok to try and do so as long as it will give them the same kind of productivity as a projector would.

I am concerned that the video card might not be able to handle the resolution of the plasma screen and vice versa due to the aspect ratio of the plasma. I am not sure which vid card to use yet but it will definitely have a DVI out. I believe that many plasmas have a 1024 x 1024 resolution. Is this going to distort the images or will it just make the desktop much larger?

What do you all think? Thanks in advance for any feedback you can give me.

It's a 1024x1024 interlaced resolution that some have.

Why buy that one?

Hmm. You can pick up a low end 50" for right about $5k. That'll give you better resolution, which is important for spreadsheets and presentations. Heck, you can even go into your local Costco and pick one up. That'll give you the ability to return it anytime if you guys are unsatisfied.

At my work, we purchased three plasma screens for the purpose of displaying information from a computer. Presentations looked really nice on the screens. Unfortunately, all three of the screens developed burn-in after a couple weeks of use.

How many hours a day did you use the plasmas before experiencing burn-ins?

I'd go for a digital projector. Nice resolution and you only need to replace the bulb periodically.

We used the plasma screens for long periods of time... about 8-12 hours a day for more that 3 months. We first started noticing burn-in after about 3 weeks. Now, there are permanent burned-in icons and windows on the screens. There was a screen saver option on the screens, but it pretty much never got used.
