Wireless Remote Extender

I have my satellite TV box in my bedroom. It's used for the TV there. And I just installed a projector and screen in the living room.

I only have one remote. I want to be able to control the satellite box from the living room.

I looked at the reviews of the Jensen remote control extender but it got lousy reviews. The Terk unit gets excellent reviews.

Anyone familiar with either one?

We used a Niles infra red extender connected to our AV systems which had volume controllers and Intellipads in every room.

It sounds like you are using just the sat box which presents the problem. Normally what you have is a sender/receiver which goes over the IR port on the device. That sender/receiver then connects to the IR extender box which has the connections for every other device around the house. Obviously, the standard volume control was on the speaker lines and the Intellipads connect via the connector wires back to the extender.

The website is www.nilesaudio.com and the equipment is top notch...we even have some installed out by the pool and it survived getting wet. (They didnt make the intellipad in a waterproof model so a normal one was installed with a cover. In a bad storm the cover came off and the unit was soaked.)

The other option, which in your instance would probably be better would be to buy a RF universal remote with an adapter.

There is no hard wiring for either unit. It's just two antennas. It looks pretty simple. Which model did you buy? I don't see prices on that site.

Here's te Terk unit: http://www.etronics.com/product.asp?...irx&svbname=31

Well the Niles equipment is expensive as I said. The intellipads MSRP is $399 or so. I did a quick search and onecall has them for $315. I dont remember what they were invoiced at when we got them. I also dont know the model of the IR extender box we have, but its a multi room/multi receiver set up.
