Center Channel Speaker Location

I am trying to figure where to locate the center channel speaker which I formerly used on top of my TV.

I now have a projector and screen. I believe that the ideal location is directly in front of the viewer. But with the roll down screen, that is impossible.

I am considering a ceiling mount (dropped ceiling) speaker. If I go that route, where should I locate it? Directly overhead of the listeners or elsewhere?

I am also considering using the existing center channel speaker in the rear since my receiver is 6.1

There's no way to mount it behind the screen? I think Apex did this but it depends on the material I believe.

I am in the same position right now. My center used to be on top of the TV stand, then to the direct side of the TV. Now that I have a projection TV I have it on the floor next to the right channel, which messes up SS. I gotta figure something out.

I have the screen mounted directly in front of my window, but the window is like a bay window, projecting outward approx. 10". I could probably mount it at the top center behind the screen, but I am sure the sound would be muffled when the screen is in use.

What about creating a makeshift bracket so that you can hang it in front/above the screen. The only concern would be if the speaker would be in the way of the projectors projection.

I considered that, but it would look dumb, plus I would have to run the wires either up through the ceiling panel or over to the wall and then sideways, which wouldn't look too neat.

from what i remember, Apex had a perforated screen that allowed speakers to be mounted behind the screen.

You can get your screen microperforated, but it's expensive. I only got the black border area of mine done.

I found a Polk ceiling mount speaker on UBid for $99. I think it will match my main speakers which are also Polk.
