S-Video and Progressive Scan

I just bought a Standalone DVD Recorder. The instructions state that for progressive scan use that a component video cable must be used. Does that mean that an S-Vdeo cable or RCA jacks will not support progressive scan?

Pretty much...

You'll just get a normal video signal versus the progressive scan signal through the S-Video and RCA cables.

BTW... if your TV supports component video, then you can probably get some good cheap component video cables from Wal-Mart. That's where I bought mine and so far they work great.

Thanks, DarkFury...I learned something today. I hooked up a DVD plaver several years ago for a friend and I don't believe I used a component video cable.

If you want to get some very good cable that isn't too expensive, go to

cables.musicianassist.com/

Vince Maskeeper builds cables in bulk 2 times per year and sells them at minimum cost above materials. The group buy takes a little bit, but the cables he produces are top notch, Apex recommended me to him.

His group purchase is now open.

Let it be known that neither SVideo nor RCA will support progressive...
Also note that normal TVs dont support progressive either...
That being said, I have an extra component cable (pretty nice) if you want it... You can have it on the cheap, just IM me.

Now does this mean that if a TV has component video, that it also does progressive scan?
