What are the differences between the HLN467W, HL-P4663W, and HL-P4674W?

HLN is last generation, with older everything.
The HLP is current generation. The xx63w is the bottom of the line. Uses HD3 chip with 5x colorwheel with 6 segments. The xx74w is middle of the line. Uses HD2+ chip (which is superior to HD3) with 5x colorwheel with 6 segments. xx85w is top of the line, with HD2+ chip, 5x colorwheel, with 7 segments.

is this a decent deal?
http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/produ...l.do?oid=94680 Samsung 50" DLP™ HDTV Monitor (HL-P5063W) $2,249.99 After $750 savings i would price match it at BB and get the points. BB has it on sale for $2499. i'm amazed that there's a $250 difference in sale prices. plus, BB has a deal going where you get a $100 GC if you spend XX amount on a tv. do you think i'd get that as well if i'm price matching? i'm ready to pull the trigger today so any advice would be helpful.

My best advice is two fold...
First, go check it out over at avsforum. Tons of quality opinions there with lots of good info and pictures to back it up. Second... just go down and look at it... at both places even if possible. Who knows what kind of person set it up. Take a few of your favorite DVD's and play them if possible as well. And as far as everything I've read... the HD2+ chip is superior to the HD3 chip that this TV uses. *EDIT: AVSForum has a ton of threads about the 5063W... Its actually a rather popular HDTV over there. If you cant find the info you want/need there, you're probably not going to find it. Last edited by IrishSS : 03-11-2005 at 04:29 AM. |

You could get the HLP-5085W for $2748.14 (-1% from their onepass program if you have it) from OneCall. It features the HD2+ chip and is the smaller model of the same one I have. The 56" is only $3098 though... for $250, I think the extra 6" is worth it.
CC has it for $33xx on sale, but I have a 10% back by GC coupon I could send ya if you wanted to purchase it there... but, OneCall doesnt have tax to MD, so you'd probably end up saving more there. |

2249 vs. 2996. plus the stand that goes with it is $500. i'm sure i could get it for mebbe $400 somewhere but still...
is it $750 better? |

I believe it is easily $750 better... but thats just my opinion. I bought a component rack from CC and stuck it outside of the front speakers and sub. The TR85 stand can be had for as little as $390 from online retailers if you decide you have to go that route.
But ya, the 5x85 series seems to be a favorite amongst HDTV owners. Is it worth the extra $$$? I think so. Again... check it out on the AVSForum and make an educated decision for yourself. |

Get the 5x85. There... I made the choice for you. Now your only choice is how big. 50" or 56"? The 56" is perfect from about 8-9 feet viewing distance. Anything shorter than that you may want to get the 50".

Dude cheapie you and I are totally on the same wavelength. Both getting nice bonuses at work this week and both looking to blow a chunk of it on a DLP.
![]() I'm looking at one of the Samsungs as well. Bigger always looks better, especially in a big store. But in my tiny place I think a 46 inch would be plenty. Also, I'd like to keep it as close to or under $2,000 as possible. Hopefully there will be a sale sometime soon.

BB and CC are having a pretty decent sale right now.
CC has the Samsung 46" DLP™ HDTV Monitor (HL-P4663W) for 1979. Was 2699. Pretty decent savings IMHO. http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/produ...l.do?oid=95082 |

That's pretty much the one I've been eyeing up. And like you said, I'd get it from BestBuy to get the points. It would be like getting that set of noise cancelling headphones I want for free!
