Television Wall Mounts

I got a 27" Sylvania (i.e cheap on a Black Friday Sale) Television that I want to put in my office... however due to the limited space in there, I was thinkin' about mounting it up on the wall.

Do any of you have any experience with doing this? I know that the TV weighs approximately 80 lbs.... so I guess I was kinda scared about trying to hang the mount (yeah... I know... silly huh?)

Looking out at Best Buy.. they have em for around $100... however at SAM's Club I saw one for like $55 yesterday.

What do you guys think?

My limited response (from my limited knowledge) will be to look into a VESA mount.

they do list the load limits on each bracket. I know that the Best buy wall mounts were marked up by at least 100%, that's from when i used to work there and bought two of them on employee discount, so the ones at Sams are probably just as good, but without the mark up. The largest that i have used was for a 20" TV, so no help there.

I think you would be better off with one that mounts down from the ceiling. Walls are commonly built with 2x4 construction, a ceiling construction is typically heavier, especially if there is living or storage space above it.

My friend got this. It seem like very good quality & pretty sturdy.

Since DF doesn't have an LCD tv, a VESA mount won't do much good.

I have a $38 cheapie wall mount I got from Wal-Mart. It's very sturdy and has no trouble holding a 20" TV/VCR/DVD combo. That weighs less than your 27", but not much. Just check the rated load on the mount and make sure it's bolted securely to the *center* of a wall stud.

I bought this one about a year ago for a 27" tv, plenty sturdy and reasonably priced:

Well I ended up buying the wall mount brackets from Sam's Club... they were only $55 and they included additional racks for a VCR and a DVD player.

Here's a link to the website of the company who made the bracket... Orbital

Thanks everyone for your help
