It depends on your location. If you go to http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.aspx you can see the stations you should get.
for example, I live in Las Vegas, a big, flat bowl with antennas on the mountains so I got all the HDTV ans DTV channels with a standard di-pole (rabbit ears) antenna.

I have that Zenith antenna and a Sanyo HT30744. Works just fine. All the major networks' OTA HD programming comes in clear and sharp. Signal strength is weak when tuning to UPN DTV, but that's probably due to my location more than anything else. Nothing worth watching on that network anyway.

I did get the zenith. It takes getting used to. Instead of static, you will get missing pixels or blocks. Also the sound will sometimes jump out. What is neat is that for instacne i get 3 fox stations. 2 is analog, 2-1 is HDTV and 2-2 is another HDTV and sometimes broadcasts different shows. THe HDTV shows are crisper and i think worth it. Get an outdoor HDTV antenna if possible. Oh yes and the hdtv stations are flicker-free.

These get good reviews:

Anyone have thoughts on getting a single bowtie antenna ( http://www.antennasdirect.com/db2_bowtie_antenna.htm ) and placing it in the attic of a 2 story townhome? It says that it can be used indoors in an attic, but I just wondered if anyone has tried it. My wife is semi-opposed to us putting any antennas on the outside of our house. Thanks.
