LCD TV, is it good for me?

I'd like to sell my TV, and my LCD monitor and replace them both with one unit.

However, I'm told the LCD TV's like the ones from dell would get crappy cable reception unless you have digital cable or direct tv.

I only have normal cable.

My family has a small LCD TV in the kitchen, it's something like 12inches, and it gets awesome reception. Much better then the TV in my room, which is a great Phillips Flat Screen TV (flat like a crt monitor, still bulky just a flat picture tube).

So I'd like to ask for peoples imput as I'm sure a lot of you have bought these LCD TV's from Dell.

I don't have the cash anyway, so it's not a huge deal, but I am curious for the future

nah it would have to replace the 27inch Plillips in my room, so I'd be getting something comperable to that. a 30inch LCD for TV, DVD and PC.

Removing the TV and my 19" Dell LCD Monitor will allow me to save a LOT of space because I could then get rid of my computer desk and the desk my tv sits on

I couldn't see a 17inch screen from 8 feet away =P I have bad eyes

Ahhh...LOL

No, I heard there is a hybrid of regular TV and HDTV called something like EDTV or something like that. It can handle 480p or 480i at most, but its cheaper....

=P

I bought a 20" LCD TV from tweeter.com, which had 640 X 480 resolution. I hooked it up to cable and it was very grainy. I was so glad that it had a dead pixel because I was able to return it. I do not recommend any LCD TVs greater than around 17" which has this resolution. And I don't know if it was the cable or the TV, but the sound lagged behind the picture by about a second or vice versa, I forget which.

Also, EDTVs are not worth the money either because of the very mediocre resolution which they have. I have yet to see a 42" EDTV for $1200, but even at that price I still wouldn't buy one.
